Background

Growing up in Minneapolis, Kim developed a deep appreciation for community and connection shaped by the city's diversity and melting pot of cultures. This appreciation would become central to her life's work. Her formal education began with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Bethel University, where she developed core understanding of organizational leadership. This commitment to learning has never ceased—she pursued MBA studies at IE Business School in Madrid, Spain, immersing herself in international business perspectives that would later prove invaluable in her global healthcare work, then continued graduate education at the Jack Welch Management Institute, refining her approach to leadership and operational excellence.

These academic pursuits weren't separate from her lived experience but rather deeply integrated with it. Each classroom lesson found its testing ground in the real world of building organizations, serving communities, and navigating the complex terrain where healthcare, business, and human need intersect.

What Drives Her

Kim believes kindness is not weakness but the foundation of lasting impact. In every role she has held—from bedside as a nurse to boardroom as an executive—she has seen how genuine care creates the trust necessary for meaningful change. Courage means showing up with integrity even when uncomfortable, building bridges between communities that don't always see eye to eye, and finding common ground in shared humanity rather than differences. Relationships are the infrastructure of everything worthwhile. Whether pioneering healthcare systems in Ghana or serving on leadership teams in Minnesota, she has learned that sustainable progress comes from investing deeply in the people around you, understanding their perspectives, and building together.

Principle-driven leadership requires the clarity to know what you stand for and the humility to keep learning. These values aren't aspirations written on a wall somewhere. They're the daily practice of her life, tested and refined through decades of building organizations, serving communities, and working alongside people who have taught her as much as she has taught them.
